Justin, How has your journey touched my life? Well, I also have leukemia, although mine is not the agressive kind like yours. A stem cell transplant remains the only cure, but I will do other types of treatment first. It has been 2 years since my last chemo. Mine slowly grows back and has to get to a certain level before it is treated. It's creepy having a disease like this grow and then just watch and wait, do nothing. People say stupid things to you in a case like this. Watching you go through your ordeal has helped me so much. I was able to see God's mighty hand save you over and over again. But, He also used the medicines and the medical community. If He had healed you with out the medical, a very few people would have heard. But, by you and your family being open with your journey, you have reached many, many more people! You have shown all of us how faithful God is. You have increased our faith, given us courage to face our own trials. I also have learned a different side of our loving God by watching your family go through this. Justin, you truely are annointed in a ministry. I don't think you see it all yet, but I know that God has a plan for all of this. For my own life, you have given me courage. If I have to face a transplant some day, I know I too will not be afraid! SO many things could have happened to you in that process. Look at the faithfulness of God! Your mom NEVER went into denial in any of your process. She was always truthful, but believing in our loving Father to rescue you and the rest of the family. Your journey has been wonderful to be a part of. Thank you for sharing with all of us your journey. You may never know all the people you have helped. God bless you. I will never forget when my then 1st grader, Katie, brought home a blue baseball hat with your name and verse on it and telling me there was a boy in the 7th grade at her school that was very sick. Our family began praying for you at that time and we have continued and will continue. Personally, I felt the Lord calling me to step up to the plate and be one of your prayer warriors. This was rather different for me as I did not know you or your family...just your name. I have been faithful to the Lord and have spent much time in prayer for you. I have spent sleepless periods in the night praying for you, and anytime you cross my mind. I have rejoiced with you and have shedded more tears for you then my own children!! I have been blessed to have been a part of your journey. I have learned how to pray more intentionally. I have learned that God is dependable. I have learned that we can trust God even when the doctors and medical staff have done all they can do. I have learned to trust God more deeply when the future is uncertain. I have learned to cry out to the Lord and know that He has heard my cry. Thanks for letting us/me be a part of your life. My stem cell transplant at City of Hope Good Sam was Dec 16, same day as your bone marrow, I believe. We even left the same day. How has pain and/or the experience changed my life? While I always trusted in our Lord, I thought to be healed of Leukemia was too much to ask. Then I read John 9:49-50 where the man asking for healing for his child "took Jesus as His Word." That's when it struck me. His Word says I'm am healed, that He died on the cross for my healing. I had to take Him at His Word! I had not been doing that. Yes, the whole process, from April 04 to even the present held a lot of pain (and aggravation for someone used to being very active) and I will probably have those memories of my dreadful nightmares forever. But I will also have the memories of those dedicated nurses, aides and doctors who put up with me and my actions in or out of my semi-coma. Also for the reassurance of prayers from many --your mom was one--I am eternally grateful. I know God has blessed us both, Justin, and we must see to it that His name is proclaimed. Justin! Ive been waiting to write 35 or more words! Now i can. :) WOW Justin, everything youve been through and all the many ways God has shown himself through you, its incredible! Well, here is my story.. For the past couple of months ive been through some rough times.At church we would have the "commitment/recommitment " prayers. I knew that i wanted to recommit my life to Jesus but there was always something i was holding on to, that i couldnt give up.It varied everytime. For the past year, I had been asking God to show me a simple sign that he was real,because i had given up faith on him. Since i felt so many things were going wrong in my life. I was just like "God where are you?" "Why arent you helping me?" That is what was holding me back from being sure I wanted to give my all to Christ. But Justin, when i heard you were in the hospital, I had never prayed so much in my life, and at that moment i said to God , you know maybe i dont have to see you make changes in my life for me to know your real. I felt as if my little problems compared to the hurt you were going through was nothing. and yet you were 1,000 times stronger then I was. Well now that you are almost completely healed, God revealed to me he is real and he does work mericles. Well to make a long story short ;) Last wednesday night I recommited my life to Christ and life has never been better. Not only am I improving my walk with God but I have been blessed with friends to keep me accountible!
